About Me
I’m Chelsea Betyou - busy wife, mom of two busy pre-teens, business owner, fan of fitness, and general lover of food. You’ll normally find me in workout clothes with my hair pulled back, kids in tow, food on my mind.
My weight had been a struggle for as long as I can remember. I was always heavier than other kids, grew up in a household that had to prioritize convenience over nutrition, and rode the diet roller coaster most of my adult life. A little over five years ago, I was 6 months postpartum with my second child, and the heaviest I had ever been. I had always been excellent at losing weight - I was a champion calorie counter - and my 1200 calorie diets consisted mostly of Dairy Queen. I knew better, yet I didn’t! I always gained everything back because I did not have the skills, habits, or knowledge to make good choices consistently. I knew something had to change.
I discovered macros like many people. Someone I looked up to had experienced great success. I jumped in with both feet. Over the course of a year, I utilized all that tracking macros had to give. I lost 50 pounds. I fell in love with the fact that I could eat things I love while ensuring that my body was getting what it needed, no matter what my goals were. From day one, I slept better and felt better. I took it upon myself to learn everything I could about nutrition. I discovered the benefits to building muscle, embracing and enjoying the process, and changing how I use food long term. I put all of those things into action and have maintained my progress for years, continuing to improve my composition over time while enjoying more balance than ever.
Over the course of those five years, this once vehemently anti-exercise kinda girl went from sedentary, to marathon runner, to group fitness junkie, to weight lifter, to CrossFitter. I have experienced the benefits and drawbacks of each, and have settled into a routine that I enjoy that allows for balance in activity that I love, and being comfortable in my skin. I’m still down 75 pounds total, but my goals have changed since the beginning. I went from desiring to be thin, to fully understanding the benefit of building muscle, to chasing confidence via strength and balance. I am the strongest and happiest I have ever been.
What I’ve Learned:
You cannot out-exercise a bad diet
You have to build a lifestyle that involves exercise that you enjoy
Building muscle doesn’t have to be complicated, but it requires hard work and proper nutrition
There is no need to earn your food
Cutting out food groups is a recipe for rebellion and guilt
Learning to cook a little goes a really long way
Including foods you love DAILY is the single best way to ensure adherence to a program
Your diet doesn’t have to be miserable. It MUST be enjoyable enough to utilize very long term.
Why Nutrition Coaching?
I started coaching seven years ago because those close to me were desperately seeking the same balance and success. Flexible dieting has changed my life completely; I feel compelled to help others experience the same. As a coach, I am realistic, supportive, and your biggest cheerleader. Your success is mine. Your environment dictates your achievement, so my community is yours.
